The National Executive Committee (NEC) of University Sport South Africa (USSA) is responsible for the co-ordination of all USSA's activities on a national and international level. The member institutions of USSA triennially elect the NEC at an Annual or Special General Meeting. In terms of Article 8.1.1 of the USSA Constitution, the NEC shall be made up of a minimum of four (4) bona fide students and a minimum of four (4) managers/officials in the employ of a member. The President shall be a freely contested position. The 1st Vice-President shall be a manager/official at the level of Director, Deputy Director, Head of Sport or Deputy Head of Sport at a member institution of Higher Education. The 2nd Vice-President shall be a senior student in at least his/her 2nd academic year of study. The Chief Finance & Marketing Officer shall be a full time employee at a member institution of USSA.

Mr Jerry Laka Director at KovsieSport, University of the Free State
About: A sport devotee employed by the University of the Free State as the Director KovsieSport Department. He is a former Director Support Services at Maties Sport, Stellenbosch University. Mr. Laka has an experience that ranges for 28 years in the sport environment, working for the following institutions (Vista University, University of Western Cape, FIFA World Cup 2010 Organising Committee, SAFA Senior Women National Team, Tshwane University of Technology, Stellenbosch University and University of the Free State). He has many management and Leadership qualifications like Advance Diploma in Sport Management, BA Honours in Sport & Recreation Management, CIES/FIFA International Certificate in Sport Management and a Master of Management from Southern Business School(STADIO University) focusing on 'The Attraction and Retention of Talented Sports Administrative Staff in a University Sport South African Environment'.
