Late last week, Wayde van Niekerk became the new record holder for the men's 300m event at the IAAF World Champions League in Ostrava with a blistering time of 30.81 seconds. Van Niekerk broke Micheal Johnson's 17 year old 300m world record of 300m of 30.52 seconds and has become the first athlete ever to run: sub-10 for 100m, sub-20 for 200m, sub-31 for 300m and sub-44 for 400m.

The man of the moment, van Niekerk competed for Team SA in the 27th Summer Universiade, which took place in Kazan, Russia in 2013. This achievement is a true reflection of the International University Sports Federations (FISU) slogan, Today's Stars, Tomorrow's Leaders.
