Korea sends Team SA back to the drawing board

CASERTA, ITALY – The South Africa women’s football team destabilised after going down 8-0 against a highly organised DPR of Korea on Thursday night at Stadio Alberto Pinto in Caserta, Italy.

From sound of kick-off, the South African students donning the famous yellow and green kit, were comfortable and confident and on the ball. That confidence was however short-lived when the evidently disorganised defence by Team SA, left a gap in the 18-area uncovered. Boitumelo Rasehlo frantically attempted to fill in this gap, but was instead blown for a foul, and a penalty was awarded to Korea and converted by Jon So Yon.

The flood gates were officially opened by the Koreans and Team South Africa as a whole failed to show aggression and a hunger to win.

The technical team of South Africa are hopeful that the team will rise above the loss. There’s still much to play for in Group A.

Final score: South Africa 0-8 DPR Korea
